Small Mac apps,
easy to peel.

Mikan Software makes little Mac utilities that each do one job well — sweet, simple, and quick to get into.

No accounts. No analytics. No seeds.

Apps

Utilities for macOS.

MikanMessage

Coming soon

macOS 14 Sonoma and later

A Display Message action for Apple Shortcuts. Show a floating, non‑blocking status message — “Default browser set to Chrome” — that fades in, holds, and fades out, without Notification Center getting involved.

Privacy

Small apps that mind their own business.

Simple

Each app does one thing. There's no account to create, no onboarding, no dashboard. You install it, it sits quietly in your menu bar, and that's the whole experience.

Native

Written in Swift for the Mac, launched when you need it and then forgotten. Nothing is a web page in a window, and nothing hangs around eating your battery.

Private

No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no ad networks, no third‑party SDKs of any kind. There is no Mikan server that knows you exist.

What these apps send over the network

Today: nothing. MikanMessage makes no network connections at all — it takes text from Shortcuts and puts it on your screen, and that's it. Point Little Snitch at it and see for yourself.

If a future app ever needs the network — for example to check for updates — this section and the privacy policy will say exactly what it sends before that app ships.
